Between the Lines is an original work on paper combining ink, watercolour and acrylic, depicting a rodent-headed male figure dressed in office attire against a field of repeated envelopes.

Bold black linework defines the figure, set against a backdrop that reads as either paper mail or email. A red-and-white striped tie introduces a second pattern, drawing the eye to the figure’s middle-age spread.

With a restrained palette and a mix of controlled mark-making and drips, the image sits between humour and unease. There’s a suggestion of a message not yet opened, or left unspoken.
