Woof! Vibrantly coloured and deliciously textured, Knick Knack captures the lush tactility of chenille as both surface and subject. Layers of acrylic paint interact with the woven tufts of vintage chenille*, a fabric once synonymous with mid-century bedspreads.

Blending nostalgia with a wink and a nudge, the buff male figure offers a playful nod to the nursery rhyme Knick Knack Paddy Wack, channelling bulldog bravado with a splash of eyeshadow.

*New chenille fabric (c. 2005), cut from a roll and stretched over a canvas frame.
